Description
This paper presents the results of an implementation of a discrete Legendre adaptive IIR filter using the Motorola DSP56001 processor. The impulse response of the adaptive filter is a linear combination of orthogonal sequences. The filter is attractive because a long-duration impulse response can be realized with fewer taps than an FIR filter, with the additional advantage that the simple and well-known LMS algorithm can be used to update the weights. The paper discusses some practical issues related to the implementation of the filter on the fi-eedpoint DSP56001 processor in an adaptive line enhancer configuration.
