Description
Jorge Luis Borges and Adolfo Bioy Casares had a life long, critical interest in the writings of Samuel Johnson, reflected not only in Borges various critical and fictional writings, but also in the conversations (extending over 55 years) between Borges and Bioy published in Daniel Martino's volume "Borges" (Destino, 2006). My essay discusses what we can learn about Johnson from the counter-intuitive interest expressed by the two Argentinian modernists.
