Abstract
To examine a relationship between the handmade and the mass produced, Jon Frey, Anna Kell, Jason Kofke and Matthew Whitehead exhibit new work unified through the use of serial imagery. Presented in museum style display cases, the works become artifacts of personal human experience.
The title Serialist, serves as an ambivalent methodology for the work, at once sincere and ironic. Borrowed from music terminology, it connotes a compositional technique in which a fixed series of parts, which can only be changed in specific ways, are used to generate the harmonic and melodic basis of a piece. --from the Facebook event hosted by Matthew Whitehead.
