Abstract

Deeds For Seniors’ Needs, Company D of Spring 2021, had a passion to help the morale of the seniors at RiverWoods Assisted Living facility in Lewisburg, PA. Our company recognizes how challenging the past year has been for senior citizens who have been heavily affected by the COVID-19 Epidemic. We sought to bring positivity to the life of the residents by creating everlasting memories and meaningful experiences. Our company’s service project worked to help RiverWoods by providing maintenance work, including painting, moving outdoor furniture onto the patio, and cleaning out a basement. The maintenance staff at RiverWoods expressed their appreciation since they were able to dedicate more of their time to helping individual residents. In addition to maintenance work for the facility, our company held activities to get the residents involved, such as an in-person chair yoga class and a fun root beer float Friday night. Although we were unable to continue in-person chair yoga, the seniors thoroughly enjoyed the session and asked when we were coming back! Furthermore, to make a lasting impact on residents, each company member made a handwritten card to the seniors at RiverWoods full of encouragement, love, and positivity. Our fundraising efforts included a total monetary donation to RiverWoods of $2,888.00 through our GiveButter fundraising page. We expressed our gratitude to donors by creating virtual E-Cards for donors to send to any loved ones. These projects were all executed with dedication and passion to help seniors through this trying time of COVID-19.
