Abstract

Management 101 Co. A - All Hands Up This semester, All Hands UP chose to work with the HandUP Foundation based in Milton, PA. HandUP is a faith-based, social entrepreneurial, non-profit organization that provides support for those impacted by hunger and poverty in the surrounding area. Early on in our conversations with HandUP, President Doug Diven established that his biggest goal was for us to complete a project focused on sustainability and reusability: “I would love to be able to build a garden that can be used over and over.” We constructed 7 long-lasting garden beds as a way to elevate HandUP’s food bank by adding fresh produce options and nutritional value. In addition, company members created 250 cookbooks with recipes crafted from items within the food bank to promote quality culinary education. We also ran a community-wide clothing drive to lessen clothing-related insecurity within the greater Milton Area, totaling 234.94 pounds (457 items). All HandsUP conducted multiple very successful fundraisers, including a partnership with the local Lewisburg business, All Star Bagels, to raise $1,000. Through our Givebutter campaign, we generated an additional $1,818. At the end of operations, our company reached a net income of $764.24 in the sale of 217 T-shirts, allowing us to donate a total of $3,582.24 to HandUP
