Abstract

Dream to be Herrd partnered with the Herr Memorial Library in Mifflinburg. By choosing to work alongside the library, our company extended the Management 101 reach to a community that historically hasn’t had much overlap with the course. Dream to be Herrd aimed to help ensure education remained accessible to families in Mifflinburg year-round. On-site at the Herr Memorial Library, company members created storage in order to help organize the basement and attic of the building. We also refreshed the teen space, painting a new Super Mario Bros-inspired mural. Lastly, we purchased and set up a document scanner to ensure historic Mifflinburg documents are preserved digitally. Dream to be Herrd held three Pie-a-pal fundraising events encouraging Bucknell community members to donate to the library in exchange for the chance to pie a company member, friend, or professor. These events raised $564. In addition to this, the virtual GiveButter campaign raised $1,905 leading to the company raising a total of $2,469. Through t-shirt sales, Dream to Be Herrd raised another $1,291.96 bringing the total amount donated to the Herr Memorial Library to $3,760.96. The money raised will be used to support summer programming for Mifflinburg families due to the need for the children to go somewhere while parents work during the summer. Our company spent over 336 hours on-site at the Herr Memorial Library creating lasting shelving to store materials for educational programs, a revamped teen space with a new mural, installing a document scanner to preserve local documents, and establishing connections within the Mifflinburg community.
