Abstract
This semester, Bison Builders was able to offer incredible assistance to the Donald Heiter Community Center using the principles of organization management, despite many obstacles. The company was partial toward a cause that would benefit children from the beginning, which made the Heiter Center a strong candidate. In addition to the before and after school day care program they offer, the staff’s gratitude and passion for their work made it an obvious choice. Bison Builders was able to repaint and refurbish the offices, repaint and add drywall to the kitchen, and make general improvements to the Center as a whole. There was a Halloween event held for the children, taking pressure off the staff to provide Halloween activities. Over $3000 was donated as a result of multiple fundraising efforts. These improvements not only benefit the staff and those using their services immediately, but set them up for future success. Company B sold all of the 150 sweatshirts ordered in addition to two given by the vendor, Jordanna Adams, for free. The sweatshirt was beige with hills fit into the shape of Pennsylvania and the words, “Welcome to Lewisburg” on the back. The front featured a small design of an outlined hill range and “Lewisburg” written underneath. We decided not to include Bucknell in the design as we wanted to appeal to those not affiliated with Bucknell. While we never got to sell to the general public, employees at Bucknell and staff at the Heiter Center were excited to buy our product. We had a Give Butter donation link that raised over $3000, in addition to Sweet Frog and Panera fundraisers that raised over $100. This success would not have been possible without the great company dynamic and hard work put in by everyone.
